Back to Basics: Yoga Foundations with Olivia
Do you ever feel unsure of when to inhale or exhale in class, how to move with control, or what “core engagement” really means in a chaturanga?
This 90-minute workshop breaks it all down.
We’ll explore the foundations of pranayama (breath), asana (posture), & vinyasa (breath to movement) both conceptually & through hands-on practice you can apply to your practice. You’ll learn how breath supports movement, how to build strength & stability in key transitions, & how to move through a vinyasa with intention instead of momentum.
Perfect for beginners or anyone who’s ever felt a little lost in their flow. Please bring a notebook, pen, and water to class.
Creating Sacred Rituals: Tea & Deep Rest with Ceremony and Emily
Led by Ceremony, we'll be performing a traditional gongfu tea ceremony featuring an unroasted Dong Ding oolong from Taiwan. Dong Ding is often known in roasted form, so tasting it unroasted offers a rare chance to experience the tea with more of its natural character intact. This style highlights the leaf’s freshness, floral aromatics, soft creaminess, green depth, and clean, lingering finish.
This time of year is especially beautiful for teas like this. After the colder months, the tea feels awake again — more expressive, more aromatic, and full of seasonal vitality. An unroasted tea allows those qualities to come through with remarkable clarity.
Tea has also long held a place in contemplative practice. Historically, monks drank tea before meditation to cultivate alertness, focus, and calm presence. This ceremony is intended in that same spirit: as a quiet ritual to awaken the senses, settle the mind, and ease into yoga with greater intention.
The ceremony will end with an hour-long yoga nidra meditation led by Emily. This guided body scan or “yogic sleep” is a reclined meditation that allows the body to rest deeply while the mind remains aware, creating space for clarity, stillness and deep rest.

The Bhagavad Gita: On & Off The Mat with Islay
The Bhagavad Gītā: in context and off the mat. The Bhagavad Gītā is an ancient Sanskrit text from South Asia that addresses timeless questions still relevant today. Spoken in Krishna’s own words, it offers guidance on transcending beyond the suffering of both inner conflict and worldly struggles, pointing toward liberation through the study and practice of yoga. This workshop is an introduction to the story, themes, and historical context of the Bhagavad Gītā, with special emphasis on its teachings on the practice of yoga. We will also explore practical ways to weave its wisdom teachings into modern life with clarity and sensitivity.
