Equity Scholarship

West Side Yoga is offering one FULL scholarship opportunity for our 2026 teacher training in hopes of creating better representation of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) individuals in our studio. Providence is a richly diverse place to live, and we want to practice in spaces that are just as culturally beautiful and inclusive as our shared city. We believe representation matters for the indigenous practice of yoga, and we want to continue to honor it by welcoming and supporting BIPOC identifying individuals in our teacher training. This is just one way for us to continue to create more equity in the accessibility of yoga to members of our community.

Any member of our BIPOC community who is ready to be immersed in a yoga teacher training is welcome to apply. Please note that applicants must have an active yoga practice (at home or in studio).

The scholarship will be awarded randomly from the pool of applicants.

  • "My experience with this yoga teacher training was truly meaningful. The program was incredibly thorough, extensive, and engaging, and it challenged me to grow in ways I didn’t expect. Throughout the training, my understanding of yoga philosophy and anatomy deepened significantly, and I gained a much clearer appreciation for the depth of the practice. What I’m most grateful for is how much it enriched my personal practice. It helped me slow down, become more intentional, and connect more deeply with yoga beyond just the physical postures. I left the training feeling more knowledgeable, more grounded, and more inspired to continue exploring and sharing yoga. I’m very thankful for the experience and would highly recommend this training to anyone looking for a thoughtful and comprehensive path into teaching or deepening their practice."

  • Signing up for the WSY YTT was one of the best, most transformative experiences of my life. I cannot recommend this training & these teachers (Corey & Emily) enough!"

  • "I was part of the first cohort of yoga teachers trained at West Side, and it was a truly formative experience. The program is beautifully and thoughtfully designed: thorough but broad, ranging from study of the Sutras and the Bhagavad Gita to nuts-and-bolts conversations about the business of yoga. We spent a lot of valuable time on foundations—anatomy, cuing, sequencing, pranayama—while also devoting serious time to those things that make a class feel extra special, including hands-on assists and cuing for pregnant students. Corey and Emily stewarded us through the 200hrs with grace and wisdom. They're extraordinary teachers, and I feel very lucky to have had this opportunity to learn deeply from them."

  • "Attending YTT at West Side Yoga was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Corey and Emily were fantastic instructors. Everything they did was done with such care and love for the practice from the curriculum to our graduation ritual. They cultivated an environment that was warm and open but also disciplined and structured. I found it ideal for learning. It was one of the most meaningful experiences of my life and I will treasure my time spent in YTT forever."

  • "I am incredibly grateful to have obtained my 200-hour credential in Vinyasa at West Side Yoga. Corey Thibodeau and Emily Burdett are both extremely qualified, compassionate, and knowledgeable teachers. The yoga education and insights I received were well-rounded and hands-on. Corey and Emily have the utmost respect and integrity for the practice, and demonstrate they live yoga daily on and off the mat. I feel they prepared me well to go on to teach. The curriculum was a balance of lineage, philosophy, anatomy, sequencing, and labs. Our training culminated in our teaching community classes, a day I won’t forget!"
