Led by Ceremony, we'll be performing a traditional gongfu tea ceremony featuring an unroasted Dong Ding oolong from Taiwan. Dong Ding is often known in roasted form, so tasting it unroasted offers a rare chance to experience the tea with more of its natural character intact. This style highlights the leaf’s freshness, floral aromatics, soft creaminess, green depth, and clean, lingering finish.
This time of year is especially beautiful for teas like this. After the colder months, the tea feels awake again — more expressive, more aromatic, and full of seasonal vitality. An unroasted tea allows those qualities to come through with remarkable clarity.
Tea has also long held a place in contemplative practice. Historically, monks drank tea before meditation to cultivate alertness, focus, and calm presence. This ceremony is intended in that same spirit: as a quiet ritual to awaken the senses, settle the mind, and ease into yoga with greater intention.
The ceremony will end with an hour-long yoga nidra meditation led by Emily. This guided body scan or “yogic sleep” is a reclined meditation that allows the body to rest deeply while the mind remains aware, creating space for clarity, stillness and deep rest.
