Hindu Deities and Their Relationships to the Asanas

  • West Side Yoga 186 Carpenter Street Providence, RI, 02903 United States (map)

Have you ever wondered who the warrior was when practicing warrior two? Asanas are named after sacred animals, ancient yogic sages, and Hindu deities. The myths and stories behind these deities have much to teach us. They serve as inspiration for the physical practice, fueling it with a deeper meditative quality. This workshop will include an hour of storytelling about the Hindu gods and goddesses and how they relate to the postures we practice, followed by a one-hour asana practice that compliments the stories told. The hope is that this workshop will add a new dimension to your practice and your love of yoga.
